I’m signing off for the night. But since I have trouble sleeping these days, I want everyone to experience the same disturbing thoughts I get at 2:00 am. Here’s a nice approximation … this video for Ween’s “Push Th’ Little Daisies.” It seems innocuous … until you hear that high-pitched voice giddily and goofily blabbering the title. Pat Robertson be damned … this is WAAAAY creepier than Marilyn Manson at his most allegedly Satanic.
One of the very odd and gloriously demented singles off Ween’s 1994 masterpiece “Chocolate and Cheese.” The best way to describe “Voodoo Lady” is to imagine if Captain Beefheart fronted the Talking Heads. This is disco from hell … stripped down and lo-fi … with some very loud and unholy guitar noise. The video alone is bound to give you nightmares, especially that odd looking child giving flowers to the singers.
Ween’s gleefully obscene and surreal take on the Irish drinking song and maybe, The Pogues. Loads of really, really bad language on this one, so not safe for work, little ones, or people who are very, very sensitive.
To celebrate the fact that this blog is now accessible at http://davesstrangeworld.com, here’s a sweet, soulful favorite from the mid-1990s.
Ween’s most successful attempt at a Country song … albeit in a hilariously profane way that only Ween could bring. Not safe for work or little ones.
